Pinecliffs Golf Club
Built on the clifftops above Praia da Falesia with spectacular views of both the wooded fairways and the ocean, the course is a good test of concentration and ability. The par 3 sixth hole with its carry of 200 metres over a chasm is rightly named the Devil's Parlour!
Pinecliffs is an exclusive resort based around the five-star Sheraton Algarve Hotel.
Palmares Golf Club
With breathtaking views of the Monchique Mountains and the Bay of Lagos, Palmares is recognised as the most scenic of all the Algarve courses. The majority of the holes are on gentle slopes above the extensive beach which stretches from the marina to the Alvor estuary. The upper holes wind through groves of almond and fig trees and there are five links holes on the front nine located along the sand dunes of Meia Praia beach.

"If you wish to play golf on a course in Portugal which is near the coast, then Palmares is a must. Its combination of Parkland and Links make for a very interesting and thoughtful round of golf. It is not a tiring course and although some of the holes are a little difficult, it is a course which will suit the average golfer. Depending on your game, you may wish to forget the round of golf, but I am sure you will not forget the spectacular scenery. Word of caution - watch out for youngsters collecting golf balls on the links - they may try to sell you your ball before you have lost it!"
Parque da Floresta Golf Club
The westernmost golf course in the Algarve, Parque da Floresta is a challenging layout set amongst the rolling hilly terrain of the Costa Vincentina nature reserve. Virtually carved out of the hills, many of the natural contours are retained. Many of the holes - especially on the first nine - prove somewhat daunting for the average golfer.

"I played this course a few years ago in the summer and really enjoyed it. Don't go to the first tee cold though because it is quite a daunting opening hole. The fairway falls dramatically to the left towards a steep quarry edge.
Not a course to play for the real beginner; there are too many holes that could fill you with dread as you stand on the tee, but the scenery and the condition of the golf course is excellent.
Salgados Golf Club
A new golf course (opened 1994) Salgados is converted from a former aircraft landing strip and wetland adjacent to a bird sanctuary. The lakes and water hazards contribute to the feel of a Scottish links course. The layout is compact and the testing par 4, 7th hole with its narrow fairway created between the dunes, is rated one of the best holes on the Algarve. Salgados Golf Course opened in 1994 and has the feel of a Scottish links course in a Florida atomosphere - lots of water and sunshine! Situated just 3 miles to the west of Albufeira, don't think that the lack of yardage on this course makes for an easy round of golf. There are water hazards on nearly every hole (14 in total) and your skills are tested in the approach shots to the greens. The course skirts the beautiful beach and the 18 holes here at Salgados Golf are well balanced with both the front and back 9 having two par 5's and two par 3's.
